Tree Sense was created in 2009 as a way for Amanda, our farm’s owner, to offer her unique set of skills to the public. Over her working lifetime, Amanda has been a partner in a tree moving business, become an Alberta journeyman landscape gardener and run a tree nursery specializing in fruit tree production for Northern gardeners for over 30 years.
Upon retiring from the nursery, Amanda continued with her interest in trees and horticulture by becoming an International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist in 2005. Following this certification, she worked in the arborist industry until 2009, until she started her own business.
Tree Sense was developed with a strong emphasis on the education of the public about trees and tree care. Amanda feels that creating harmony between people and trees is far superior to poor pruning or unnecessary tree removals.
Trees are amazing living structures that have definite growth patterns and responses to their environment. The job of an arborist is to use these growth patterns and responses to guide a tree to have the best structure for the environment in which it is planted.
